NextG’s East Coast Presence Grows with DAS Launch in Boston Area
SAN JOSE, CA - NextG Networks, Inc., a leading provider of distributed antenna systems (DAS systems), expanded its East Coast presence with the launch of its latest DAS system in the Greater Boston, Mass., area. With hundreds of strategically placed DAS nodes and more than 150 miles of new fiber added throughout the region, the city of Boston and nearby municipalities such as Brookline, Cambridge, Somerville, Malden, Everett, Chelsea and Lynn are now receiving much-needed wireless performance, capacity, and coverage enhancements.
Challenges of this deployment included covering dense urban and suburban populations, as well as a diverse terrain that included rolling hills and heavily wooded areas. The aesthetic requirements of the municipalities made traditional tower infrastructure deployment impractical. NextG's DAS system offered the best solution by providing appropriate wireless coverage while maintaining a low profile design that blended with the environment. With the cooperation of various leaders from the local municipalities and utilities, NextG rapidly constructed the DAS system.
"The Boston area deployment was coordinated through NextG's wholly-owned regional subsidiary based in Randolph, Massachusetts," said John Georges, CEO of NextG Networks. "Utilizing equipment vendors and more than 100 contractors from local companies, NextG successfully launched the DAS system not only in a challenging terrain but during the unpredictable conditions of a Northeast winter."
NextG is working closely with numerous carriers and communities and has a number of DAS deployments underway in and around Greater Boston and throughout the East Coast. The company's continued growth across the United States underscores its position as a premier, coast-to-coast provider of DAS systems.
The company believes that communities and carriers are increasingly looking to DAS systems to enhance the wireless user experience. DAS systems are designed to provide the capacity to accommodate growing wireless user bases, handle significant traffic surges, and add new services such as mobile broadband, enhanced data and mobile video offerings as needed.
