NextG Networks Implements Nation's Largest Distributed Antenna System Network for Cricket Communications in San Diego
SAN JOSE, CA - NextG Networks, Inc., has successfully implemented what is believed to be the single largest commercial Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Network in the United States for Cricket Communications in San Diego. In a market well known for zoning challenges, NextG Networks successfully launched greater than 300 nodes as part of a network of distributed antennas for Cricket. The NextG DAS Network was a substantial portion of the overall Cricket network launched for San Diego.
"NextG's challenge was to quickly bring the Cricket and Jump Mobile brands to San Diego while meeting local residents' desire for unobtrusive, low-impact antennas that blend into the beautiful landscape for which San Diego is famous," said John Georges, CEO and co-founder of NextG Networks.
Cricket will use the DAS Network to offer both data and voice services under the Cricket and Jump brands. NextG's extensive municipal right-of-way and utility assets were key differentiating factors in Cricket choosing NextG to design, build and operate the Network.
"This was a very impressive accomplishment," said John Saboe, Vice President of Engineering for Cricket Communications. "When it came to delivering an extensive network that met our time-to-market and performance requirements, NextG delivered. We feel the introduction of the San Diego NextG DAS Network will further enhance our strategic and cost leadership position in the industry."
"The partnership with Cricket is a perfect example of the way we like to do business," continued Georges. "Cricket chose NextG as their partner to deploy a DAS Network in one of their core markets, and we delivered. I'm very proud of what the NextG and Cricket teams were able to accomplish. Cricket customers from day of launch will enjoy the highest quality service in some of the most zoning-challenged areas in the market. The San Diego network is a significant addition to our extensive portfolio of DAS Networks around the country."
