NextG’s Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) platform combines multiple
RF signals from various service providers on laser beams at various wavelengths
for transmission along fiber optic cables. NextG's CWDM can combine up to
8 wavelengths onto a single fiber (16 wavelengths per fiber ring), spread
out over a relatively large range of wavelengths. The NextG CWDM enables existing
metro fiber rings to support multiplexing services onto a shared fiber backbone.
This creates a system that is more flexible and cost effective than traditional
architectures.
NextG CWDM enables our networks to:
- Expand fiber distributed antenna networks in fiber-weak areas
- Offer ring-diversity on nodes connected to a NextG network
- Increase capacity in existing fiber distributed antenna networks
- Add bandwidth on demand without large construction projects
- Support a less expensive, more flexible, more reliable microcell network
